Every clinical journey begins somewhere. From the first scan to years of experience, that progression is shaped by practice, learning, and confidence over time.
The story of Voluson follows a similar path. It is closely tied to Zipf, Austria, home to the engineering and development site where the technology has evolved over decades. For nearly 50 years, this location has brought together technical expertise and clinical insight to support each new generation of imaging.
Each system built on history
Developed in Zipf and shaped through everyday clinical use, each Voluson system builds on what came before. The systems shown alongside reflect that shared journey, mirroring the progression from early experience to advanced practice.

Enters ultrasound technology through non-destructive material testing
1962
Introduces ultrasound for medical diagnostics
1967
Develops the first compound scan ultrasound system
1977
Develops the world's first real-time sector scanner

Introduces the first panoramic transvaginal probe
1989
Launches the world's first integrated 3D ultrasound system with a volume abdominal probe
1990
Introduces the first volume transvaginal probe; begins partnership with ViewPoint
2001
GE Healthcare acquires Kretztechnik and the Voluson business

World's first fully electronic 4D transducer launched
