Reaching out through PPP
Krsnaa Diagnostics has emerged as one of the most trusted organizations for outsourcing pathology and radiology services. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, they are located in 9 states across INDIA giving diagnostic and tele-radiology service at 150 centers and have plans to expand further nationally and internationally.


The Inception

Krsnaa Diagnostics is the brainchild of Rajendra Mutha and was formed with the vision to make healthcare affordable and accessible. Having experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Mutha was well-aware of the dire state of healthcare in India; diagnostics had always been considered as a poor cousin to the hospitals, long neglected, in terms of ambience, quality, patients comfort and affordability. He spoke about his Idea of serving people with Quality health care at affordable prices to his friends, family members and like-minded. This idea was well –received by them and thus a team of like-minded, committed entrepreneurs from varied fields such as finance, engineering, pharmaceuticals and medicine came together to revolutionize healthcare delivery in India. Krsnaa Diagnostics Pvt Ltd as a concept, took root in the early part of 2009 and took shape in 2010 with its first center in DY Patil Medical College Hospital.


First Priority: Quality

State-of-the-art interiors, quality services and decent pricing has made this organization a pioneer in the arena. Mr. Mutha stresses that though the prices are reasonable, quality has always been their top priority. Service depends greatly on quality equipments. “In the diagnostic industry, the quality of services immensely depends on the quality of equipment. Therefore we strive to install quality, high-end, latest equipments from world-renowned manufacturers. For medical imaging, we partnered with General Electric Medical Systems.” Talking about GE, he says, “Our journey with GE has been excellent. They are a well-renowned brand. When we stepped into this venture, we were not very knowledgeable about this industry. It has been a learning process which equipments are the best. From the day we started with GE, we have continued ever since. It provides quality services. I have a philosophy: one should not lose relation with those who have provided a helping hand during the initial days. We view it as a marriage. Till today, there has been no reason to change our equipment manufactures.
“For laboratory systems, we tied up with leaders such as Siemens AG of Germany, ROSCHE, Lilac, and Mindray. Apart from excellent equipment, our technical team is also highly qualified in their respective fields. We recruit a team of expertise support ranging from healthcare professionals, sub specialized radiologists, pathologists, biochemists, microbiologists. All our centers are operational 24/7. We do not take any additional emergency charges. We charge the minimum to give the maximum. Interiors and hospitality extended towards customers is as good as any five-star hotel,” sums up Mr. Mutha. This is also an ISO-certified company. The organization understands that accredited company brings comfort to patients and gets recommendations and assurance from doctors. We always sum up saying QUALITY HEALTH CARE AT AFFORDABLE PRICES.


The Model

Krsnaa Diagnostics started its journey working on three platforms. Firstly with small 100-bedded hospitals, which included specialty hospitals like Neuro and Ortho; who need a CMR but do not have funds and/or expertise. The hospitals provided the space and the rest was taken care of by Krsnaa, from installation of equipments, day-to-day care, and management to reporting. Second was expanding through private medical colleges. The third, and most importantly, is expansion through PPP with various State Governments in India. Krsnaa is Asia’s largest PPP player. It has successfully executed Asia’s largest is PPP in the most difficult geographical region of Himachal Pradesh, where they made the facility of  CT Scan available and accessible to the most remote regions centers across 12 locations. This PPP gave us a beautiful experience filled with emotions, blessings and it was indeed a learning lesson. We feel extremely happy when we see satisfied patients walking back with smiles and showering oodles of blessings on us. This experience made our decision of expansion through PPP stronger, because we realized that the rural India needs a lot more. Our intention was never to make this a business, but to earn bread and butter to ourselves and our staff, so when we work selflessly, success follows.

Mr. Mutha continues saying I believe in doing GOOD and playing my role rest all follows. This attitude got us to the level we are today with a wide presence From Kashmir to Kannyakumari. “Our focus is to reach out to maximum people with our quality and affordable services. Because of the higher rates in the open market, we highly focus on PPPs. In Government hospitals, diagnostic services were not available 24/7, clinical expertise was missing. By outsourcing our services by this PPP model, the government hospitals are getting 24/7 quality services at government rates and patients are benefitted. Now patients do not have to travel 6-7 hours just to have a diagnostic test done in a metro hospital,” he explains.

Recruiting and Training

Partnering with medical colleges and medical institutes has also helped them escape the human resource crunch, says Mr. Mutha, adding, “Since we are a part of many organizations and colleges, so far we have not faced much crunch because students are eager to come for training and later get recruited in the company. It works as an incentive because they get a job guarantee.”

We are blessed to have the best of team, with dedicated doctors, technicians and by now all of them have turned into a large family . The vision of giving service to the needy without compromising in quality has made its roots stronger in each ones mind and each one has the LET’S DO GOOD attitude.


Profit is Not an Aim/ not aiming at Profit margins

“Our company’s mission is not to mint money. We are not in loss but we do not make excessive profits either, though we have managed to expand at a decent rate in the last 4 years. We manage revenue enough for daily operations. We focus on taking our services to maximum people. A private centre might do 10 scans per day. Some of our centers do about 45-50 scans a day, and this is how we sustain,” explains Mr. Mutha.

This institute also actively participates in PR and marketing. Recognition and respect has helped them expand organically. “People who need our services, themselves approach us. Whenever we find there are suitable tenders, we participate. We also have a survey team who inspects the project feasibility and requirements before we open the center. Because of the huge need of equipments, we have a technical team for equipments,”

Krsnaa has now started participating in social activities and willingly extends its services at minimal costs, so as to benefit the society. Health checkup camps, free medical checkups are all a part of Krsnaa.
